In Taipei

This is a photo taken in Taipei, the night before we left for home. We met with Lucia and Anita (Gu), her son and his girlfriend (Hope it's OK with them -- I have not asked for permission). We plan to return this summer. Hope to see you all somewhere in Taiwan. --- Hueping

An Old Photo

Dear friends, here is an old family photo. Our camera broke last year, soon after we got back from Taiwan; consequently, we have not had any photos taken! Here is a picture taken last year when we traveled in Bhutan, a small Buddhist kingdom on the foothill of the Himalayas. The background is the famous "Tiger's Nest", a small monastery resting on the high cliff. It was breathtakingly beautiful and the hike was invigorating.
It is quite chanllenging to find photos of all three us. I hope to find a few more when I have more time.
P.S. Weilong, who is 16 now, did not have his hair cut when we lived in Taiwan last year. His hair was long and thick when we came back in July. He has a different look now since he had the hair cut last fall. He is a sophomore in high school, enjoying all subjects and participating in school plays, community orchestra, poetry reading...etc. After living in Taiwan for a year, his Chinese is quite fluent; and fortunately for me, he is willing to continue. Sometime when I speak English to him, he'd gently remind me: "Speak Chinese, Mama." ----- Hueping

Happy New New Year

How lucky are we that we can celebrate two New years (and two birthdays) each year. Your celebration in Taiwan definitely will be more colorful, tasty and warmer than ours in north America. Regardless where we are, I believe we treasure this special festival, because it gives meanings to all of us.
Share with us your celebration with stories and photos. Thanks.

Happy New Year.

Be healthy, be prosperous and be mindful.
